Sampath
User Manual to me, halfway around the world.
My style
I try to focus on both the breadth and depth - While I try to zoom out wherever I can, I still like to know what the nuts and bolts of something look like
What I value
Transparency, open engagement and good documentation - I'm the resident slack troll and I appreciate the 40 comment threads and will read through them
What I don’t have patience for
Hmm, I think I'm fairly patient and am fairly flexible to work around people's schedules and constraints (both internal and external). That does run thin when folks take it for granted.
How to best communicate with me
India is 13h30m ahead of Vancouver until March 16th and 12h30m ahead after that. To illustrate what this means, please consult the following table (for conversions after March 16th).
Vancouver Time
India Time
5 AM
5:30 PM (Snack time)
9 AM
9:30 PM (Post Dinner)
12 noon
12:30 AM (Slightly Past Midnight)
3:30 PM
4 AM (This is usually when my dad tries
to wake me up to play badminton)
6 PM
6:30 AM (Roosters and sunrise)
Tentatively, these will be my work hours in Pacific Time
8AM -> 11AM (open for meetings and real time slack and email replies, earlier meetings will be well appreciated :) )
10PM -> 3AM (I foresee myself doing more engineering design, planning, replying to longer emails during this time slot)
Slack!
If you invite me to a meeting, please give a heads up as to what the meeting is about either in the agenda/title/send a note. My brain goes on overdrive when something is left to uncertainty and starts brainstorming outlandish possibilities.
How to help me
I am working on being able to ask for help more easily... If you see me struggling with something, please ask if you can assist - I would appreciate it
What people misunderstand about me
While I am an engineer by training, and that informs my perspective towards many things, that is only one of the many perspectives and skills I bring to the table
